JST Corporation, Waukegan, Illinois, announces the release of the MMC connectors for use in Consumer Industry and Data Collection applications. The new MMC connectors meet the specifications of both the MMC and SDMC Associations. The current 9-pin version being offered represents the first MMC/SD card connector. A revised 9-pin SD card design incorporating the write protect switch, card lock notch, card detect and possible ESD grounding mechanism is due in the fourth quarter 2000.

This SMT connector is molded of LCP and utilizes selectively gold plated phosphor bronze contacts rated for 10,000 mating operations. The MMC connectors are offered in trays or embossed tape for automatic insertion equipment.

Pricing for the 7-pin and the 9-pin connectors in typical 25K quantities will be $.60 each and $.66 each respectively.
